TARANGIRE
GAME RESERVE
Situated
120 km south of Arusha, along great North road highway, and along
dry season, day after day of cloudless skies seem to suck all
moisture from the landscape, turning the waving grasses to platinum
blond, brittle as straw.
Tarangire offers a wide variety of wildlife in
its area of 2,500 km sq. As in all ecosystems, main features of
the Tarangire are the flood plains and grassland.
Comprised of acacias species, baobabs, sausage
trees and tamarind which offer home to tree dwelling “tree
pythons” and permanent river that is named after the park
play big part of the thirsty elephants, antelopes, gazelles, lions,
cheetahs, elusive leopards, giraffe, zebras, wildebeest and the
beautiful fringe eared Oryx.
Tarangire Park also offers a chance to bird life
and has recorded more than 300 species of birds.
