TARANGIRE GAME RESERVE

Situated 120 km south of Arusha, along great North road highway, and along dry season, day after day of cloudless skies seem to suck all moisture from the landscape, turning the waving grasses to platinum blond, brittle as straw.

Tarangire offers a wide variety of wildlife in its area of 2,500 km sq. As in all ecosystems, main features of the Tarangire are the flood plains and grassland.

Comprised of acacias species, baobabs, sausage trees and tamarind which offer home to tree dwelling “tree pythons” and permanent river that is named after the park play big part of the thirsty elephants, antelopes, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, elusive leopards, giraffe, zebras, wildebeest and the beautiful fringe eared Oryx.

Tarangire Park also offers a chance to bird life and has recorded more than 300 species of birds.
